CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

The Custodian is expected to:

Be continually alert for opportunities to improve the appearance of the school building by removing marks from walls, dirt, and paper from floors, and dust from furniture and equipment.

Open and close the building at the times directed by the administration.

Sweep, mop, wax, and buff floors; clean desks, whiteboards, and other furniture and equipment; clean and assist in the repair of windows and light fixtures as may be needed.

Keep all drinking fountains and lavatory fixtures in a clean and sanitary condition.

Assist in making minor repairs to plumbing, heating, ventilating, and electrical units as may be required directed by the Head Maintenance Custodian.

Receive and distribute supplies as may be needed; store supplies in a safe manner and maintain an adequate inventory of supplies.

Assist in maintaining all approaches and walks in a safe condition, including assisting in the removal of snow.

Assist in maintaining lawns, grounds, and baseball fields, as directed by the Head Maintenance Custodian.

Assist in moving equipment and furniture in and about the building as may be necessary for the preparation of specific activities.

Perform other services as are necessary to maintain safe and sanitary premises or as may be assigned by the Administration.

Be physically able to perform the duties listed in the job description.
