Resolution to Declare a Vacancy
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of Ridgway School District R-2 accepts the resignation of Alicia Skoko from the Board of Education effective September 29, 2023; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in accordance with state law, the Board declares a vacancy in this school director office that will be filled by appointment by the Board within 60 days in accordance with the following procedure:
- Interested persons are invited to send a letter to the Board with a statement of interest and related experience by Tuesday, December 5, 2023 to the following address: Ridgway School District, 1115 West Clinton Street, Ridgway, Colorado 81432, ATTN: Secretary to the Board of Education, or via email to: schoolboard@ridgway.k12.co.us.
- The Board will interview prospective candidates on December 12, 2023 at a public meeting.
- No person is eligible to hold public office unless that person fully meets the qualifications for office. To be eligible for appointment, a candidate must be a registered elector of the school district for at least twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the date of appointment. Any person who has been convicted of a sexual offense against a child is ineligible for the office of school director. Each candidate for appointment to the vacancy shall establish their eligibility to hold office by submitting a sworn affidavit* attesting to their qualification for office by Tuesday, December 5, 2023 to the address provided above or in person no later than 1:00 p.m.
- The appointee will serve until the next regular school biennial election in November 2025.
