Yesterday, our schools hosted Colorado Shakespeare Festival & Violence Prevention Program, bringing professional theatre and powerful lessons in conflict resolution and community-building directly to our students.
3rd–5th enjoyed an engaging abridged performance of The Tempest, where they explored themes of forgiveness, empathy, and making positive choices.
8th–12th experienced an abridged performance of Hamlet, to spark conversations about emotions, relationships, decision-making, and the consequences of conflict.
Following each performance, students participated in interactive classroom workshops led by the actors, where they practiced strategies to prevent harm, resolve conflict, and help build safer, healthier communities.
Special thanks to the three talented actors who inspired and engaged our students through both their performance and interactive role-playing activities. We also extend our gratitude to our Mental Health Counselors, Sharon Brown and H. Discoe, as well as our teachers and staff, for their support in making this experience possible.
Since 2011, this University of Colorado Boulder program has reached more than 140,000 students across Colorado. To learn more, please visit https://cspv.colorado.edu/.../shakespeare-and-violence.../
